DIVISION, LINEARITY AND REPRODUCTIVE FRAGMENTATION

The core of my degree project is the archive of photographic slides that were shot and developed by my grandfather John who I never got to meet. He passed away on the 26th of November, the same date that I was born. Even though we rarely see himself in the pictures, he leaves an undeniable presence in the thousands of pictures where we look through his eyes. Transformed into a digital format, the pictures are manipulated, scaled up and printed on PVC sheets, polyester fabric, and copper weaves. These new formats that the photographic slides are given, are a combination of moments from different times in a family album. The installation presents alternative versions of the original slides, created with techniques and perspectives from both past and present. Among the images, you can also find glimpses of movies and television programmes hinting at the fiction present in individual memories.
