My degree project has been made in collaboration with the non-profit organisation and integration project, the Voices Without Borders choir based in Stockholm, which began during the Syrian war in 2015.
How can a spatial supporting act for a diversity choir look?
The word resonance is derived from Latin and means to “resound”, meaning to sound out together and indicating how the immaterial sound bounces back at the materials surrounding it, both the built environment as well as the bodies in the room.
Architecture of Resonance is a bodily and spatial investigation of ways to vocalise the poetics and political aspects of a space, by developing a support structure for Voices Without Borders. It unfolds layers of stories as a foldable, moveable cabinet expands and overcomes language barriers, to combat loneliness together through communion. It employs an open-ended method, which wants to resonate and grow indefinitely.
With devotion, time, presence, and a great curiosity for each other, we can all blossom.
