Observations of a window frame

The window is a complex building element. In relation to its format and location, the components create conditions for the interior light. Contours, materiality and colour affect how light is conducted inwards and how the contrasts between light and shade are experienced.

What has historically been a carefully balanced decision-making process regarding the design of each part is today often reduced to a predetermined standard. Focusing on the window frame, my degree project wants to draw attention to the importance of window detail as a whole.
