Recreating Nature
My degree project is an exploration of the human relationship with and experience of material/materiality. The material chosen for this investigation is stone, more precisely granite from the Swedish west coast. From my research of its characteristics and core values, I have tried to translate the material granite through different digital methods and media. The 3D scanning app Trnio has been my biggest asset in the translation and creation of a new shape and materiality.
My aim is to create a new quality in granite which cannot be created by itself in its natural habitat, nature. I want this to be digitally created but read as a quality free from human interpretation and preconception.
