Salty Corpus
I make objects out of sea salt and pink salt rock. I collaborate with horses and try not to control the outcome too much. I carve, cast and collect salt stones. The ever-changing qualities within the salt as a material, its impermanence, works as a metaphor for life and death. Using the method of casting, the objects continue to develop and as they take shape in more or less durable materials their meaning shifts once again. Through this material investigation, I wish to raise questions about our habitual ways of interacting with objects, and our role as humans in relation to other animals.
