What does it mean to be a high school student today? In a time where the world seems increasingly individualized I have often during my time as a student at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design found myself working with questions relating to the interplay between security and learning. For example, I have designed workshops exploring different mediums or one specific issue rather than producing a certain result in response to pupils’ expressed performance anxiety in the schools.
My degree project explores the theme ‘fear of public speaking’ and how we as educators can address this in the classroom. The aim is to find strategies that challenge traditional teaching practices concerning types of presentations and verbal activities in the classroom.
The work can be seen as an embodiment of the experiences and knowledge I have acquired when conducting my study, where the work with fear of public speaking is viewed from a larger, collective perspective.
