I Spy with My Little Eye

With the work I spy with my little eye I celebrate the unseen and the overlooked identity of my hometown Bucharest. Through observing the mundane and the vernacular, I allow myself to become inspired by objects and phenomenas that I never found in books about graphic design nor guidebooks about my city. Anything from patterns and car decorations to letterforms and architecture, this project emphasizes the things that truly make a place the way it is. People interacting with the urban landscape, leaving behind artifacts, moving things, improvising, and leaving traces. Throughout the project, I am documenting a place that is constantly being changed by people. A living space.

All the typeface experiments, patterns, frames, and ornaments are products of my observations — from a journey back home towards an expanded visual language for the futures of my practice.
