It's a piece of cake

I spent a full working day measuring the minerals and oxides for glaze tests: 31 g of feldspar, 11 g of chalk, 32 g of kaolin, 7 g of dolomite, 13 g of quartz, 10 g of zirconium silicate.  A total of 32 tests were made, meaning that 32 different grams of oxides or stains were added to the mix of minerals written above. Each batch was labelled with a specific code to separate them. The following day was spent filtering each test through a fine 100-mesh screen and dipping 64 clay tests. Out of these 64 tests I liked 4.

As a crafter, I am used to doing things more than once to find what I am searching for and for my degree project, it has been no different. I have let my attraction to colours, shadows, forms and in-between shapes guide me through these two years and this is where I ended up — with framed utilitarian objects in the shape of a cake.
