General Transfer

My degree project General Transfer takes its starting point in the objects, images and sounds that choreograph human movement within urban infrastructure. The pedestrian crossing’s white stripes and pictogram images in the subway exist anonymously in the periphery of our attention. These symbols are sort of hidden in the public urban space, and our everyday impressions of them become fragmentised. Despite that, we relate to them daily with our bodies when moving through the city’s infrastructure, and they’re charged with energy there. This is an energy that stems from the movement and tempo of urban society: the growing pains of building sites, the vehicles, and the masses of people moving back and forth in an eternal commute.
