My degree project consists of a series of ceramic reliefs in different sizes. I work semi-autobiographically dealing with the theme of coming of age in Stockholm.
The experience of being a teenager is defined by the tension between childhood and adult life. One’s need for autonomy can grow faster than the actual freedom to self-determine. Memories of sorrow and frustration exist side by side with the memory of a euphoric sense of freedom, often associated with rule-breaking.
One of the project goals was increase my usual working scale. Inspired by Tyra Lundgren’s public relief art, I experiment with the idea of giving my teenage self representation in the public space of Stockholm.
My work as a ceramicist is figurative, and mostly in some kind of relief. Thematically, I am interested in memories, emotion and sensory experience.
