Using stop motion animation, handcrafted characters are situated into narratives. Laborious time spent making builds empathy, as I try to listen to and forgive the monster, shifting attention instead towards the societal conditions that nurture the monstrous. It can be easy to imagine societal structures as a natural phenomenon, concrete and immovable. A handcrafted touch in the work aims to highlight the potential malleability of such structures.
