Uncanny Spaces
A story of a fictional home

The intention of my degree project is to understand how interior design, particularly in our homes, is used for self-enhancement on social media. The interiors on social media are often carefully arranged and refined to achieve an ideal image, which can turn the home into a status symbol.
By decorating homes for the main purpose of working well in an image, we risk overlooking the important qualities of the physical space.

In my degree project, I use 3D software and rendering technology to recreate an apartment I found on Hemnet, and present it on Instagram as if it were my own physical home. My intention is to question reality and fiction, as well as to gain an insight into how this experience affects my own self-image.
